November 1, 2007 sparks the launch of a new and innovative web magazine.  As the publisher and editor-in-chief, I wanted to take a moment and jot down thoughts on the magazine, its readership, and our people, behind the scenes and in the shadow.

First, this is a special magazine created with our readers in mind.  Our readers are everything to the depth and growth of vicepresidents.com.  And, we get it.  We truly understand how important it is to reach-out; touch our readers; encourage their interactions; relish their comments.  And, if we do not get the relationship between magazine and readers well enough, we want our readers to tell us.  That is why we have started your own nation, the "Wingman Nation". We need our readers to become more then part of the magazine.  We want our readers to saturate themselves in the culture, and spirit, and enthusiasm of vicepresidents.com.  We want our readers to become our "Wingmen".

Second, this is a magazine that you will not find anywhere else.  It is about content, entertaining, educational, unique with a perspective focused on people, stories and events in the shadow, number two, behind the scenes.  These are people, stories and events that are important, compelling, moving....and amazingly silly and somewhat stupid, sometimes.  The mass media forgets about them because they are not number one, in the spotlight, and appealing to the masses. That is where we come in.  We live for the second string.

We’ll bring you the breaking news no one else is reporting, and cover all those Proud to be in the Shadow. Our #2 fascination extends beyond politics to sports, media, entertainment, business and more.  It is the world of the unthinkable, a web-magazine on the world of #2’s, innovative and entertaining, always compelling.

As such, we encourage our readers to sign on and read about what you’ve been missing. A magazine dedicated to the readers and promising to be interactive must be...inventive.  So, try your IQ with one of our trivia games or challenging puzzles, enter to win terrific prizes every month, influence opinion with our interactive polls, laugh out loud at our one-of-a-kind cartoons and read the unique perspectives provided by our brilliant columnists (and tell them if you agree or whether they should quit and join team McCain)! We provide you with the opportunity to make your own shadow voice heard! And we do it in a way that promotes confidence, and insights, and worthiness. 

Third, the key to the magazine, now and forever, is one brand element that defines being number two, in the shadow, and behind the scenes.  So, our preeminent focus, always, is about the ultimate number two in society, the vice president of the united states, and, the vice presidency.  Hello, DICK CHENEY!  And, the other 45 men who make up a truly mysterious, shadow-driven office.

VicePresidents.com will take the stodgy concept of the vice presidency and its vice presidents and bring it meaning and perspective like never before. From stories to analysis, from interactive games to trivia, the vice presidency is totally wicked! We love it!  And, we want you to share in its background and potential.

Finally, while a magazine's mission is for the benefit of readership, it is written by talented, smart and incredibly hard-working people.  Because all those people work for magazines that are number-one, you won't find any of those people here. Just kidding.  I was lucky enough to hire some of the best talent....those editors, writers, marketeers, cartoonists and technologists in the shadow, behind the scenes, and self-proclaimed...NUMBER TWO'S. The success of this magazine is based on two key and simple ingredients.  First, get the word out.  Second, make the magazine so content rich and compelling that every day, readers want to come back for more.  That is our intention.
