Veep to James Madison

Elbridge Gerry  Elbridge Gerry. 5th Veep, served from 1813-1814, and died while in office.  Mr. Gerry was the second Veep to die from office at the time (George Clinton was first).

The word "Gerrymandering" comes from Mr. Gerry.  He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence.  However, he failed to sign the Constitution-because at the time it did not have a Bill of Rights.
