The Race for # 2 in 2008 November 02

11/29/07 Battling It Out At The GOP Youtube Debate

Fireworks erupted in the first ten minutes of the GOP Youtube Debate, as Giuliani and Romney battled it out for the #1 spot. Rudy appeared weak, dazed and unprepared. He lost a lot of steam when he accused Romney of "having illegal immigrants living in his mansion," which Romney balked at, asking if it was American to interrogate every contractor hired to work on the roofing or painting of your house who happened to have an accent. In the end, the audience booed Rudy for carrying on way too long like an obstinate child.

In other battles, Romney attacked Huckabee for "Giving illegals Tax Payer's money" for schooling.

McCain attacked Ron Paul for his policy of Isolationism, which, he felt led to WWII.

McCain also attacked Romney for his ambivalent policy on constituting waterboarding as torture.

McCain THEN goes after Giuliani for opposing the line item veto. Watch out, this candidate is fiery!

However, all things considered... The biggest shock of the night came when moderator Anderson Cooper, in a sudden burst of blatant media bias, inserted his OWN question targeting Rudy Giuliani, regarding a "Politico story that just broke"  accusing the candidate of using public funds for personal body guards and planes! Wow, this sounds like the Spitzer/Bruno battle all over again! I thought Anderson was a little more professional than that. Strangely, no one seems to be discussing this... and conveniently, Coop's furtive question was omitted on the official Youtube debate page!
In case you missed it, you can catch an organized rundown of the entire debate here.

11/29/07 Gay Brigadier General at GOP Youtube Debates: Who was he??
If you watched the Republican Youtube Debates last night, you probably picked up on a few things. The candidates seemed particularly put off by a Gay Retired Brigadier General's question, which wondered why they believe army personnel aren't "professional enough" to serve with gays and lesbians in the military.

It seemed like a natural Republican response to accuse Hillary of planting a question... but it seemed like such a long shot. How could she slip someone past the filters and get her agenda in, amid over 2,000 submissions?

Yet, lo and behold, they've uncovered that this particular general had served on Clinton's gay, lesbian, bisexual steer committee.

Though he hasn't financially contributed to any of the candidates and General Keith Kerr considers himself a "Log Cabin Republican," the question undoubtedly damaged Mitt Romney when Anderson Cooper quoted Romney as once saying, "I look forward to the day when gays and lesbians can serve openly and freely in the military." Suddenly, Romney was arguing, "Well now is not the time nor the place for that. We're at war."

It sits in my soul like a curdled Irish Car Bomb.

11/27/07 Barack Obama's Brat Pack
It's time to test the lemming theory. Would the women
daytime television watchers of America follow Oprah Winfrey to the ends
of the Earth? Oprah plans to join forces with Barack Obama on the
campaign trail December 8-9 in Iowa, South Carolina and New Hampshire...
Other additions to Barack Obama's brat pack include:

Tony Lake, Bill Clinton's former national security adviser

Richard Danzig, an American lawyer who served as the 71st Secretary of the Navy under President Bill Clinton.

Susan Rice, United States Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs from Oct. '97 until January '01.

Samantha Power, TIME Magazine contributor

and Sarah Sewall, a former deputy assistant secretary of Defense

Also in attendance will be some "prominent New Hampshire retired military officials."
Can Obama prove he's #1 material, or will he always be overshadowed by accusations of incompetency?

11/27/07 Dennis Kucinich Picks Ron Paul As His #2!

In a surprise announcement, Democratic candidate Dennis Kucinich suggested that he'd like to work with Liberatarian-turned-Republican Ron Paul, if elected. "A Kucinich-Paul administration could bring people together to balance the energies in this country," Kucinich remarked to a New Hampshire audience over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Kucinich and Paul both have a good base of young supporters, although they're still considered "long shot" candidates. So far, he's the first one to suggest a cross-party union. Aside from taxes, spending, abortion and same sex marriage, it makes sense.

11/23/07 Who Are the #2 Congressional Endorsements?

Perhaps the people who know the candidates best can help
us most when it comes to selecting an eligible candidate for President
or Vice President. Which candidates make the best coworkers? Who has
the most friends in the Cabinet? While Hillary and Mitt are leading the pack, with 71 and 33 Congressional endorsements, respectively, we're more interested in the runners-up...

#2: John McCain: 28

#2: Barack Obama: 27

Next on the list are...

#3: Rudy Giuliani: 25 and

#3: John Edwards: 15

11/22/07 Which Candidate Would You Eat Thanksgiving Dinner With?

These polls keep getting sillier
and sillier. With Thanksgiving turkey in mind, who would be the kind of
homebody, enjoyable candidate to share a glass of wine and hours of
sparkling conversation with? It's a stumper. If you couldn't invite
Turkey Savior of America W... or Armed and Dangerous Dick, who would
1,636 voters pick? The results are so Martha Stewart typical...

According to a Quinnipiac University poll of 1,636 voters...

27% said Hillary Clinton

24% said Barack Obama

22% said Rudy Giuliani

17% said John McCain

14% said Fred Thompson

13% said John Edwards

7% said Mitt Romney.

Also, 14% said they "wouldn't eat" if any presidential candidate joined the table!

11/21/07 Chuck Norris: Mike Huckabee's #2!

The
idea came out of nowhere: Mike Huckabee is... Awesome! A little bird
came to him one day and said, "Psst... the latest email craze revolves
around Chuck Norris... hit that!" But who knew he could actually be
cool enough to score the official endorsement??

This new campaign ad is making huge progress in places like Iowa, where
they'd probably elect Chuck Norris for president in a second. They've
decided that Mike Huckabee might make a great #2.

The latest madcap endorsement on the Democratic side, is LARRY FLYNT endorsing DENNIS KUCINICH!

11/20/07 "Push Polling" Hits Mitt!

Yes, folks, smear season has begun! People in New Hampshire and Iowa -- to name a few -- have been receiving strange and anonymous phone calls asking them questions like "Did you know that Mitt Romney is a Mormon? Did you know that his five sons did not serve in the military? Did you know that Mormons believe the Book of Mormon is superior to the Bible?"

Under the guise of polling, these insidious vultures descend upon befuddled voters with their wretched propaganda, hoping to plant the seeds of doubt at the last minute. If you remember, this happened to poor McCain in the last election as well.

Where is Dog The Bounty Hunter when you need him... or perhaps the Mafia? Can we break a few legs, twist a few arms and give them the ol' "Who are you working for?" The best we can ascertain at this point is that a Utah-based company called Western Wats is bankrolling these irritating and shadowy callers. However, fingers have been pointing in all directions. Some claim Romney may have actually staged these polls to help him find a platform to speak about religion, which many advisors have been urging him to do. These claims generate from a strange connection: allegedly Western Wats pollers use the same phone number to call people as another company Target Point, which received $720,000 in fees from the Romney campaign. Western Wats also has Romney campaign contributors on payroll. Another claim links Giuliani to Tarrance Group, which is linked to Western Wats. A third accusation points the blame at McCain because the push poll revealed McCain in a favorable light for his military service, although McCain has adamantly denied it and the evidence is nil. An investigation is currently underway.

In the meantime, Senator Clinton and Senator Edwards have reportedly also been smeared by push polling. One of the questions asked: Why do you think Hillary Clinton is a weak candidate? A) Is a weak general election candidate. B)Is too dependent on lobbyist money. C) Won't bring change. Another asked: Why do do think John Edwards is a weak candidate? A) a weak general election candidate because his positions are too liberal B) He should be home with his wife who has cancer.

All I can really say is... I'm glad I don't live in an "important" state where "robo-dial bigotry" (as Fred Thompson so aptly deems it) assaults me at 8am!

11/18/07 NY Firefighters Plan Giuliani Smear Campaign
Whenever I watch Giuliani debating
or giving a speech, I want to like him... really, I do. Being from NY,
I frequently overhear tidbits about "what a great job cleaning up The
City" he's done.Yet my gut instinct tells me there's a very murky side
to Giuliani, probably the most nefarious of all candidates.

NY firefighters are tired of Giuliani reaping his gain from 9/11, when
they feel he isn't quite the hero he professes to be. Will this
campaign hurt Giuliani the way Swift Boat Veterans For Truth hurt Kerry
in 2004? Keep your eyes peeled for the television ad... Read more here!
